I imagine that if there is nothing in the countryside that you mention I can't see how anyone would like to live there in the middle of nowhere where there is probably no technology or anything. If technology and modern infrastructure don't settle in those parts of the world there is little to no chance that someone would like to settle there. I think the world is overpopulated anyway. Resources are not enough and will be less with time.
