They're hesitant because of the information vacuum they work under. Vendors like ServiceNow for example provide better security and meet more compliance regs than most premise based solutions for IT applications.

Re: Secure EHR, wherefore art thou?
asksqn, it may take a major hack at a big hospital system for the whole security situation to come to a head. Then the whole HIPAA facade will be broken that all our medical information is top secret and high priority. What's higher priority? Protecting our SS#s and our credit card numbers, or the fact that we have gout and had a cancerous tumor removed from our thyroid? These serious conversations ought to be had now --- before that hospital system's hack --- but they won't happen because the healthcare industry is far, far away from being business-ized.

Secure EHR, wherefore art thou?
In the fevered rush to make all medical records EHR, there hasn't been one meaningful discussion by the industry as to security.  I would think the Anthem hack would have put that particular subject matter front and center but as usual, industry does not give a toss.

Re: I don't think payment analytics is anything new...
progman2000,

The Hesistation of Hospitals to put things into the Cloud is'nt very surprising(giving the kind of Regulatory Concerns they fact/apart from which they have to deal with pushback from various other quarters which may/maynot be Tech Savvy].

However, the merits of Moving to the Cloud can't be disputed either.

Especially when one sees Healthcare Providers struggling to hold onto Quality & Experienced IT Staff(primarily because they don't view the work as Challenging enough Technically);if they can get things done better and in more cost-effective fashion in the Cloud;I am sure Insurance Companies(who are desperate to push costs down) will be amongst the First to embrace the Cloud.

I don't think payment analytics is anything new...
Shortening the revenue cycle has been a healthcare battle for as long as I have been working in healthcare software - I constant battle with Insurance Carriers.  I am kind of interested in your comment about organizations going more to the cloud though - my experience has been healthcare (hospitals at least) are still hesitant to put their data in the cloud.
