Clever retailers
Eric, nice piece of tips. However, shopping seasons can be cleverly handled by retailers. They can increase prices in the weeks before occassions and decrease them to bring them at the same level few weeks before. Not all but some will be tempted to do that. Beware of such retailers.

Meet Haggle Haggleston
I really like your advice on Haggling as well, as you mention not something generally practiced in the U.S. but it doesn’t hurt to try. I do it every now and then, but I think I am going to try it more often.

Re: Apple Store

@tzubair     Good to see you here !    Can't you imagine the chaos that would create ?   They already have crazed Appleites ready to pay full price anytime they want, reduce the price and call it Black Something would just be crazy chaos.

Most of the profit would probably have to be paid back to the state for all of the police and damages that would result.

Besides with a valuation of 700bil, who needs it ?

Apple Store
I wonder why Apple Stores don't take part in the deals. They might be losing a lot of money by not offering deals on Black Friday - let alone the customer traffic that goes to other stores. Would you not say that it'd be a good idea for Apple to take part in the sales? Anything else it might end up losing on?

Re: Armed and ready to shop.
"I think many folks simply go to key stores and assume that the best deals will be had there, so it absolutely makes sense to look at not just cyber Monday, but as you mentioned, retailer apps"

@Stratustician: Initially it as black Friday and then came in Cyber Monday and now retailer apps have kinda made the boundaries between them a bit murky. I don't think it makes sense to separate those days now given the fact that everyone who goes to a store will be using his/her phone to browse the retailers app and pick up the best deals. They won't wait until Monday to go back and search online for deals they couldn't find.

Re: Armed and ready to shop.
@Pedro.. maybe one of the best suggestions is your last one... Patience. I personally wouldn't even attempt to go into a store on black friday.

Re: Armed and ready to shop.
the best tools to use for this holiday shopping as you have pointed out are the retailer apps and discount research.  You forgot to mentioned, if you have to go to a store, a lot of patience.
