Professional Journey
Your "Professional Journey" could be rather dull if you don't have interesting photographs, right? What do people think of this feature? Would you use it to skim a candidate's history?

Re: Blogging or bloating?
Further to my previous post, I usually log onto Linkedin because I'm confirming someone's request to connect and once I get there - it's like "now what?"

I feel like "the Bobs" in Office Space asking: "Well, what would you say... you do here?"

Re: LinkedIn blogging tool
Blog posts might be a good addition on social media. It would be nice if companies posted a blog along with a job opening because the usual bullet points as requirements that are desired do not communicate the entire picture. And, a blog might even be able to lower the cost of HR. Since, a lower number of candidates would only apply after reading a comprehensive post.

Re: Blogging or bloating?
@Shane - Agreed.  It would be nice if Linkedin could pick one thing that they are good at and capitalize on it.  But since they don't, I'm guessing they aren't really sure themselves.  When you spread yourself thin like that, it's easy to lose yourself in the process.

What I think they are missing the mark on is having some sort of feature that acts as a big flashing light saying, "I'm looking for a new job, hire me!"  Maybe a little more subtle, but you get the idea...

Re: Blogging or bloating?
I agree with you there @tjgkg. As much as I think LinkedIn is an excellent resource for jobs, news, and networking, it's trying to hard to be a one-stop shop. Just feels like a crowded room lately. I guess that's what happens when you're a public company. More is more.

Blogging or bloating?
I think Linkedin is getting to be too much in terms of what it is offering their users. The last thing i want to start reading is a blog when i am trying to find a job or connect with someone. There are a lot of people who love reading the things they post and i do find it annoying to hve to wade through all these "updates" when looking for real information. Then your mailbox gets filled with email about "Say congratulations to...." or "Joe endorsed you". It really becomes a bit much after a while.

LinkedIn blogging tool
The blogging tool does seem to be a good way of generating more engagement when you have time to do more than just posting a standard status update. You can then share your post in LinkedIn Groups or send it to individuals you're connected with as well.

My latest experiment was a post about developing new web tools for Toastmasters clubs, which I shared in the Official Toastmasters Members group and also forwarded to a few people whose feedback I wanted.
