Thank you Sara for today's session and IBM for sponsoring the InformationWeek University series - Big Data, Complex Controls. We enjoyed sharing our perspectives and research with everyone. @obrienjw @RadiantAdvisors

Apprentice

Our most exciting area of research now is related to Digital Marketing Analytics enabling CMOs of companies to leverage all this potential.  The market is still new, rapidly evolving and fragmented as we are identifying best practices, technologies and that Listening Architecture we discussed. @obrienjw

Sara: "wow, that was a really great presentation today..."  positive sentiment or sarcasim? haha :) @obrienjw

Apprentice

Sara, most CIOs remain concerned about understanding privacy and compliance (risk) first and foremost.  Internally, small teams and data scientists are already analyzing data in a very controlled manner.  We get involved mostly with companies that want to overcome that and transform to that enterprise data-driven company. @obrienjw

Apprentice

Oh wow, I hadn't thought about how difficult it would be for software to recognize sarcasm. Fascinating.

Ninja

Even those of us in media get nervous about it.

Ninja

It seems to me like there are more companies enjoying the social media experience, but I'm sure it varies GREATLY from one organization to another.

Ninja

Sentiment analysis and sarcasim still remains one of the tougher area to crack while other companies are very focused on privacy information compliance before taking the leap.  Some companies even broadcast their monitors in the company hallways and reception areas to build awareness and internal analytics culture. @obrienjw

Apprentice

Other companies enjoy watching how conversations evolve; retweets, comments, discussion and especially from a visual geographic perspective. @obrienjw

Apprentice

Some of our companies ask about the "creep factor" which is something to deal with beforehand.  For example, respond one to public comments and different channels for internal communications.  @obrienjw

Apprentice

@obrienjw  John, do you think that most CIOs and IT professionals are becoming comfortable with all that unstructured data, or is there still some skittishness there?

Ninja

Thanks for the comments - it's a very exciting time for companies with so much data to play with

Apprentice

So much to think about. And so important to keep our minds focused on what technology can do for our relationship with customers -- even when it's technology that exists outside our own computing environments (like social networks).

Ninja

Thanks Sarah and all.

Have a great weekend!

Great Presentation Brien!!!

Apprentice

oooOOOooo. A shift from brand loyalty to customer loyalty. Love it.

Ninja

A "listening architecture." I like that phrase!

Ninja

Thanks for joining everyone! Let us know how the InformationWeek University experience has been for you, and don't be shy joining the conversation.

Hi all -Audio is live! If you don't see the audio bar at the top of the screen, please refresh your browser. It may take a couple tries. When you see the audio bar, if it doesn't start automatically, hit the play button. If you experience audio interruptions and are using IE, try using FF or Chrome as your browser. Many people experience issues with IE. Also, make sure your flash player is updated with the current version. Some companies block live audio streams, so if that is the case for your company, the class will be archived on this page immediately following the class and you can listen then. People don't experience any issues with the audio for the archived version.

Hey, everyone, we're glad you could join us! When the show is scheduled to start, at 2:00 p.m. EDT, an audio player should appear above the "Your Post" window. If it doesn't appear, you might need to refresh your browser until it does. If it appears but doesn't start playing, then you may need to click on the "play" button on the far left of the player.
