>SQLCarol there may be times when speed of delivery requires data stakeholders to make decisions quickly. However, they will ultimately have to request custodial resposbilities of IT.  DG is a long-term strategic process where this may occur sometimes, but will have to be resolved long term.

@comocello data owners decide much of the transparency.  IT may require privacy as part of their responsibility. Great question!

Apprentice

@comocello depending on the data decisions, the process itself (not every proceeding), owners and outcomes will need communication.

Apprentice

great quesiton online @obrienjw What about I.T. organizations that don't seem to want to have a transparent governance process around data decisions?

Apprentice

Hi everyone, I'm here for any questions or comments on today's session Creating an Enterprise-wide Governance Framework. Fire away! @obrienjw

Apprentice

John, What do you have to say about I.T. organizations that don't seem to want to have a transparent governance process around data decisions?  There is a business driver I have witnessed where speed of delivery is deemed most important, so data specialists can be cut out of decision making around data.

It's about time to start getting your questions ready. Go ahead and ask them here: John will be finishing up his lecture and joining us here in the discussion in just a few minutes.

Hi all -Audio is live! If you don't see the audio bar at the top of the screen, please refresh your browser. It may take a couple tries. When you see the audio bar, if it doesn't start automatically, hit the play button. If you experience audio interruptions and are using IE, try using FF or Chrome as your browser. Many people experience issues with IE. Also, make sure your flash player is updated with the current version. Some companies block live audio streams, so if that is the case for your company, the class will be archived on this page immediately following the class and you can listen then. People don't experience any issues with the audio for the archived version.

Hey, everyone, we're glad you could join us! When the show is scheduled to start, at 2:00 p.m. EDT, an audio player should appear above the "Your Post" window. If it doesn't appear, you might need to refresh your browser until it does. If it appears but doesn't start playing, then you may need to click on the "play" button on the far left of the player.
