Sitting on Smart Fence
My first thought here was "Really, this is what the Va is going to do to help the vets, a self check myself kiosk?" Much of it seems like a royal waste of spending but in places where there just aren't the service providers, maybe this is one more way to see people. I'm concerned about any kind of learning curve or user errors in the vital reports though, as a real live person taking vitals will more likely notice the cuff isn't working right or something. I think more doctors might still be the best solution to the VA hospital issues (perhaps a work off medical school bills kind of program), but if you can't get more doctors helping, then at least this is something. Has anyone on here used one of these?

High priced waste of money
All the high tech gadgetry/gimmicks still need employees who are actually performing their jobs instead of fudging stats/hiding patients and otherwise denying veterans medical care in order to secure a bonus for doing so.  This new Vecna chair smells of the usual waste of taxpayer dollars on utter nonsense. Meanwhile, common sense and empathy continues to be lacking in VA employees and the management.

What struck me about this initiative is it appears driven by people who are in the trenches, not executive management who were (are?) in line for bonuses. The folk I interviewed for this piece work closely with VA clinicians to find out what they want and need to better treat patients, and attend a lot of veteran meetings around the country to speak directly to the people who use facilities' services.
