Nadella pushes against the Apple wall
This OneDrive deal won't make Microsoft into a cloud vendor for iPhone users overnight. But it's attacking where the Apple customer is most likely to be pried loose from the Apple universe. It will also put pressure on Apple's own storage pricing.

just now
The OneDrive team just announce ( thru an email): "that you can now upload files up to 10 GB from desktop, mobile, and the web"; which is a nice addition to the 30 GB storage.

Re: Clous storage costs
If Office 365 Personal were simply $6.99 for 1 TB of cloud storage, with nothing else included, it would be a better cloud storage deal than most. But Microsoft adds Office on top of all that capacity. I like OneDrive and think this Office 365 package is a great deal.

Re: space
With mobile devices, Apple charges a premium for physical storage--e.g. 16 GB is still the base amount of the iPhones. Not too surprising that Apple is following a similar path with cloud storage. Then again, physical storage is part of a total package. That's true to a lesser extent with cloud storage, but for a lot of users, capacity is the name of the game. Might be hard for Apple to avoid bumping its free offering to at least 10 GB and/or bringing down its 1 TB plan to $10 or $15 per month.

Cloud storage costs
"Office 365 Personal. For $6.99 per month, users get access to all the latest Office apps on one PC and one tablet, as well as 1 TB of OneDrive storage." That's less than a trip to Five Guys for one lunch.

space
Apple has long been parsimonious and expensive in terms of the cloud storage it provides. I suppose we'll see when iCloud Drive debuts whether customers will be offered more than 5GB for free.
