Work for yourself and avoid the BS
Unfortunately, these signs, as comical as they may be, are dead on.  And there isn't squat an employee can do about it legally.  In which case, you have two choices -grovel at the boss's feet or get off your knees and stop making the company and the boss rich.  Find something you can make money from and you'll never have to deal with a petty boss you'd like Dexter to pay a visit to.

Bad Boss Horror Stories
@Jeff: These are great, and funny because they're true. I've seen pretty much all of this bad behavior perpetrated by bosses in my career, not always against me but definitely apparent in the workplace.

I don't know where this fits in the list--is there room for The Boss Who Hates Everybody? I had a boss many many years ago who was fond of yelling at people in the middle of the open floor office space. There wasn't a single person working for him who didn't fall victim to this public humiliation at one point or another. As for the advice to talk to HR, in this particular case it was an excercise in futility. This boss was well protected by the upper reaches of senior management and nobody in HR seemed to very much care about his frequent Public Displays of Verbal Abuse.
