Please, no more "posts" added to "post, post PC"
Kinda like saying "open open source" or "new neo-conservatives." It's catchy and captures the moment, perhaps, but not the era. This year, post, post PC. Next year, post, post, post PC. We cannot define our place in the history of personal computing by adding "posts" to PC.

It sounds better than acknowledging Microsoft is in the mobile era without much mobile market share.

Re: Please, no more "posts" added to "post, post PC"

It certainly is a great reckoning to hear the MS CEO "jump" to the next era without really participating in the first era if there is such a second progression.  Since MS pretty much missed the first Post-PC era how do they really know there's a second or just a continued extension of the first? MS's radar has not been very spot on.  I'll believe it when Gartner agrees.

Re: Please, no more "posts" added to "post, post PC"
Seriously? First, blaming Nadella for Microsoft's past missteps is like blaming Obama for Iraq. Fashionable, but flawed logic. Second, Gartner will declare PCs are over when companies that make their money on the PC ecosystem tell them to.

Re: Please, no more "posts" added to "post, post PC"
Microsoft is an organization and I do believe Nadella was at MS the whole time the "post-PC" era erupted right under Microsoft's nose.  Nadella is the head of this same organization or was the entire organization replaced with Ballmer?  Nadella's  "post post PC' statement is an effort to reset the clock to figuratively get MS back in the game. I like Nadella as he is doing things differently and better but it's like trying to turn the world's largest oil tanker around.  It takes time and lots of effort.

Oh, absolutely, turning Microsoft isn't going to happen quickly or easily, but there are signs that Nadella is on the right track - Azure's success, deal with Salesforce.com.

If only it was fasionable to blame obama for anything.  BTW, The desktop is long from dead. What will you build that next excel sheet on, a tablet?  I didn't think so.

Real-time translation of spoken conversation
Talk about a killer app! Imagine being able to talk to anyone, regardless of language barrier. They've been talking about this for decades, now, but if it's real this time - WOW!

Have you tried speech to text on a smart phone, any smart phone? Only about a 80% correct translation rate.  Real time "Skype talk" translation?  Please....

Yes, we've all been disappointed before, and probably will be this time, too. But considering the source of the claim, I allowed myself a little "gosh" and even a little  "wow".
