In a digital age, Ronald McDonald just isn't enough of a draw. So McDonald's Corp. is taking a more high-tech approach: It has signed a deal with Compaq that will bring interactive kiosks with free video games to McDonald's restaurants across the nation.
Franchisees that sign up for the McMagination program will get a new set of 12 off-the-shelf video games aimed at kids ages 4 to 15 every six weeks. Compaq will provide Deskpro computers and Compaq S710 color monitors, and the financing to go with them. A McDonald's spokesperson says the company is "looking into" the feasibility of offering Internet access through the kiosks as well.
