Passengers Speak Out
The article "Survey Says: No Yakking On Planes" states that 69% of passengers prefer that cell phones not be used during long flights (April 8; "Survey Says: No Yakking On Planes"). This being the case, why would the FCC consider lifting the ban on cell-phone use? Is it that the minority rules? Or is it that the bureaucracy is alive and well?
What's It All Mean?
I read the article about the increase in IT outsourcing ("30% Of Tech Jobs At Risk From Offshoring, Gartner Says," April 4, p. 16). I'm just finishing my MIS degree, and when I see articles like this, it just makes me ask, what's the point in getting an "education" if everything my family and I sacrificed to get this degree is meaningless?

Cut The Flash And Dazzle
"But the question hanging over his head ... is whether he can instill discipline without stifling imagination" ("HP Gets Practical," April 4, p. 20).
There's an eagerness to denigrate the efforts of those who understand the requirement to profitably innovate. Mark Hurd's predecessor was big on flash and dazzle. A bit of sober discipline by his predecessor might have left both he and she in their former jobs.
