Lenovo Unveils New ThinkPads

The Z61 series offers integrated or discrete graphics, an integrated camera and stereo microphone for videoconferencing, Wi-Fi, and an integrated wireless WAN.

Lenovo has unveiled its new ThinkPad Z61 series and R60 series with enhanced multimedia and wireless connectivity options.

The new ThinkPads, with Intel's Core Duo processors, are designed for users who want enterprise-class power, durability, data protection and convenience.

The Z61 series offers integrated or discrete graphics and up to 4GB DDR-SDRAM. The Z61t offers a WXGA/185-nit or WXGA+/200-nit display. The Z61m adds a WXGA MaxBright option for clearer, brighter images. Both feature an integrated camera and stereo microphone for videoconferencing and have 802.11 a/b/g Wi-Fi capability, as well as integrated wireless WAN for connecting to Verizon Wireless' high-speed U.S. network.

The ThinkPad R60 series is a lower-cost, mainstream system with improved battery life, more connectivity options and a new 14" SXGA+ graphics choice. It also contains innovations like the ThinkPad Roll Cage, a magnesium-alloy shell, the ThinkPad Shock Mounted Hard Drive, a hardware switch for wireless shutoff and integrated WWAN

Both series include centralized dashboards, the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution, disk encryption, updated password manager software and a System Security Audit. The newest version of Access Connections allows mobile users to change environments while the ThinkPad automatically turns on and off the right connections.

The R60 series can be purchased online, with availability beginning in June. Select models of the Z61 series can be pre-ordered now, with availability beginning in late June. Lenovo PCs are also available through select business partners. Prices start at $699.
