Lenovo Offers Fingerprint Security With Notebooks

In addition, Lenovo has added to the ThinkPad line support for 802.11n Wi-Fi technology and the Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Lenovo on Monday launched ThinkPad notebooks that work in conjunction with a fingerprint reader to encrypt information on a hard drive.

The portable computers are the first from Lenovo that use Ultimaco's SafeGuard Easy 4.3 security software, which integrates with a reader. In addition, Lenovo has added to the ThinkPad line support for 802.11n Wi-Fi technology, and the Intel Core2Duo processor.

In expanding its security portfolio, Lenovo also started offering on Monday Softex's OmniPass software for PC authentication management, including fingerprints and passwords, on select PCs.

In preparation for the launch of the consumer version of Windows Vista in January, all ThinkPad Series notebooks include models that support Microsoft's upcoming operating system, including the premium version.
