JetBlue Studies Privacy Gaffe
A red-faced JetBlue Airways Corp. is scrutinizing its privacy policies and practices after last week's admission that it provided a military contractor with a database of names, addresses, phone numbers, and itineraries of 1.5 million passengers. The contractor, Torch Concepts Inc., used the database to test a new data-mining system for identifying terrorist threats to U.S. military bases. JetBlue was charged with violating its privacy policies in a class-action lawsuit filed by JetBlue customers. The airline has hired consulting firm Deloitte & Touche to review its privacy practices.
