The maker of the Prism information visualizer has announced PrismCubed, an easy-to-configure business intelligence (BI) product aimed at smaller businesses.Last fall, SiSense released Prism, a visualizer for business data that could create a dashboard view from, for example, an Excel spreadsheet. It was up to the user to build the spreadsheet with the relevant data, however, which increased the time and resources needed for deployment and limited the data tha tcould be queried.

SiSense has now added ElastiCube technology to Prism to create its new line of PrismCubed solutions. ElastiCubes visually link data sources to extract and load the desired information without coding or extensive database work. "No SQL or MDX know-how required; no OLAP or data mart creation skills required," promises SiSense. The company claims that "PrismCubed allows users to perform all data preparation, integration, synthesis and joins using a visual workflow, enabling the development of a robust and accurate business intelligence practice regardless of company size or resources."

According to SiSense cofounder and CEO Elad Israeli, PrismCubed is the breakthrough BI technology that finally brings enterprise-class analytics to SMBs. SMBs need clean data that is ready for analysis and accessible by many. They need all the power and functionality of an enterprise analytics system brought to the fingertips of any executive or IT manager without the resource baggage of programming, long project cycles, training, and unnecessary drain on time and budget."

PrismCubed comes in several varieties with different license pricing. The Professional version ($1,500/year) enables the user to extract and cleanse data into ElastiCubes, store them locally or on a server, create dashboards, and distribute reports to an unlimited number of Prism viewers or analyzers. The Analyzer ($700/year) provides access to ElastiCubes but doesn't permit creating them, and enables the user to share PrismCubed documents. The Personal version ($300/year) enables the user to create ElastiCubes but not share them, and only share reports via PDF export. Other components include the PrismCubed Server for storing ElastiCubes (pricing varies) and the free Viewer for looking at reports.

A free 30-day trial (with registration; 10-day without) is available from the SiSense website.
