Siebel Systems entered a business intelligence partnership with NCR's Teradata division in a move to integrate Siebel's analytics applications with Teradata's data warehouse platform, the companies said Tuesday.

Under the agreement, Teradata becomes a strategic platform partner in the Siebel alliances program and Teradata's Warehouse technology will become a supported database platform for Siebel analytics.

Siebel analytics applications optimized for Teradata Warehouse will be made available to initial customers in the second quarter of this year, with general availability slated for the third quarter.

In an effort to minimize data redundancy, the two firms also plan to debut an integration methodology between Teradata's industry-specific logical data models and Siebel's Analytic Application data models. The methodology is also set for a third-quarter release.

Direct broadcast satellite provider DirecTV, a customer of both Siebel and Teradata, was an early catalyst in the formation of the partnership, a Siebel spokeswoman said. Other enterprise-level customers currently shared by Siebel and Teradata include the Union Pacific Railroad and Royal Bank of Canada.

Pricing for the joint Siebel-Teradata offering will vary by implementation, the companies said.
