PWDManager for Windows lets companies manage all their server and other passwords from a single centralized interface.N-able is known for its N-central network and systems management software designed for midsize companies. The company claims that N-central, which is available both as on-premises software and in a software-as-a-service model, is used to manage more than 25,000 SMBs.

According to N-able sales director Frank Colletti, "Were offering PWDManager free of charge to underscore our commitment to providing IT administrators with the time- and cost-saving benefits of centralized IT management." The software (valued by N-able at $249) gives administrators the ability to discover, change and set account passwords for an entire company network from any remote location. "With this convenient management tool, IT managers can undertake virtually any password management task from a single centralized interface, dramatically reducing the time spent on exhaustive Windows password management from hours to minutes," says Colletti.

Once installed, PWDManager will search the entire network and retrieve passwords that meet certain criteria, whether they're on servers, individual workstations, or an domain. It can also find locked-out and disabled accounts and identify accounts that must change passwords on next logon and those that can't change their passwords. An administrator can then change or set passwords and password properties -- for example, whether a user must change their password (or may not change their password -- for selected accounts or domains in one operation. The list of properties can also be exported to help with troubleshooting.
