Google recently released its Finance application for the Android platform. Finance gives Android users the ability to check stock quotes and other financial information in real time. In case Finance doesn't sound too interesting, Hands-On Mobile also released a version of Guitar Hero for Android. So now the inner investor and inner rock star in you can work and have fun on your Android phone.Google Finance offers Android users a host of informative features. It takes many of the desktop functionalities and ports them to Android so users don't have to set up an entirely new portfolio on their phones. According to Googlers Arun Mathew and Nick Fey, "If you are following the markets throughout the day, check out the real-time streaming quotes in your portfolio, fast stock look-ups with search auto-suggestion, and 'recent quotes' to make it even easier receive quotes on-the-go. For each stock, you can see detailed quotes, charts and news, and any change you make to your portfolio automatically syncs up with the Google Finance Web site."

To bring Google Finance to Android, a number of employees contributed their 20% time. Having all these features will surely help the interested investor keep better track of their portfolio while on the go. U.S. users can downloaded Finance for free from the Android Market.

Android isn't all about work, however. Plenty of games are available for the platform. For all the Guitar Hero fans out there who've been waiting for the ability to rock out on their handsets, Hands-On Mobile has good news for you.

Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile brings the popular game to the Android platform. The new game has improved graphics and new features, allowing Android users to activate "star power" with the phone's accelerometer. The game saves all the songs to the local storage card on the phone, which lets the application run faster with fewer hiccups.

"We know Android device users are hungry for new games and applications and Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile is a perfect download to please any rock star in training," said David McCaman, head of marketing for Hands-On Mobile, in a prepared statement. "We have worked hard to make sure that Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile for Android is true to the franchise with some of the coolest features yet and we know fans of the game everywhere will be thrilled with this latest version."
