The business software vendor and the mobile device manufacturer have joined forces to develop a mobile marketing service for small businesses.Few details are available so far about how the service will actually work in practice. But the initiative is focused on giving SMBs the ability to do location-based and otherwise personalized mobile marketing. "We plan to offer [small businesses] a way to strengthen customer relationships, through targeted communications that increase sales by delivering more customer visits," according to Alex Lintner, president of Intuit's Global Business Division.
Nokia senior vice president Robert Andersson added, "We believe this will benefit consumers too, by helping them find their favorite products and services in the right place, at the right time and at the best price."
The announcement was made in London, but the initiative is global. The first rollout is scheduled for the fourth quarter of this year, at which point further details are promised.
