Hosted Exchange Service For Macs

Apptix, a provider of hosted Microsoft Exchange e-mail and other services, has announced full support for Mac OS X and the native Mac applications, including iPad sync.Apptix is an independent Exchange service provider, offering hosted e-mail services with optional security, compliance, archiving, and mobile support features. The company has been around since 1997 and claims to have over 200,000 business users. Now they have added Apptix Hosted Exchange for Apple, which integrates the built-in OS X communications applications with Apptix's Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 services.

Hosted Exchange for Apple provides Web access to e-mail, calendar, and contacts with encryption and antimalware protection. But it also provides full support for the Mac's built-in Mail, iCal, and Address Book applications (Snow Leopard required). It also uses Exchange's ActiveSync functionality to sync iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads. "Apptix Hosted Exchange for Apple gives our customers all the features and functionality of hosted Microsoft Exchange, but without the need for software outside of native Mac applications. Our customers can now use Apple Mail, Apple iCal, Apple Address Book applications and other device-specific applications to collaborate with colleagues and partners while enjoying the same benefits as PC users when it comes to Microsoft Exchange, all at a lower price point," said Apptix vice president James Bond.
