The usual suspectsFirst, the usual suspects. With New York being a top travel destination, sites such as (in no particular order) Travelocity, hotels.com, Orbitz, Trip Advisor, Hipmunk, and Priceline will happily find you a hotel room. If you want a restaurant recommendation, there's always Yelp or Zagat. Those sites will certainly fit the bill, but for some options that serve up a little more local style and color, read on.

More Things to do in NYC
A few more suggestions from a local, for things to do in NYC, in the area, and during Interop:

1) Check out one of the best hotel rooftops with amazing skyline and river views: Press Lounge at Ink 48 hotel (11th Ave at 48th St). Dress Appropriately.

2) On Broadway: James Earl Jones, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally - and of course, all the usual amazing shows

3) Jets vs Detroit Sunday 9/28

4) Download your free map of the Midtown West area, nycinsiderguide.com/midtown-west - with local restauant recommendations: Esca (Mario Batali), Meskeram (Ethiopian) and more, along with other things to do in the area.

No startups and no food trucks? Are you some kind of anti-hipster?  : )

Re: Food trucks
@Drew- I love the phrase "it is a startup you can eat." :)

i guess my problem is that I don't like to do business with startups either. :)

Re: Food trucks
I think it has to do with Americans' perpetual quest for authenticity and novelty. A food truck is a scrappy underdog who can be creative yet unpretentious. It's kind of like a tech startup you can eat. And if you don't like food truck X, you can be sure food truck Y will be coming along any minute.

As for cleanliness, I frankly try not to think about it, whether it's a truck, a nice sit-down place or a fast food joint.

Re: Food trucks
Thanks, Drew. Great source.

i do have to ask this, though. What is America's obsession with food trucks, lately? I mean, I'm freaked out enough about how dirty restaurants are behind the door. Then you add the word truck to the equation. No one keps their truck clean. You find change under the seat of a truck before it even leaves the factory just to give it that homey, lived in look. Why would i want to get my food from a vehicle spewing diesel fumes?

I'll never get this one. :)

Food trucks
You already cited the Village Voice as a source, but they've got a great roundup of the best food trucks in NYC: everything from pizza to vegan food to Korean BBQ.

I can't post the link here, but it's at the VV's food blog called "Fork In The Road"
