Wirefly Selling HTC EVO 4G To Facebook Fans

Scoring a red-hot HTC EVO 4G just got a little easier -- if you're a fan of Wirefly. The online cell phone and wireless retailer announced that starting today, it will begin selling the hard-to-find EVO 4G from its Facebook page for a limited time at a "very special Wirefly price," according to Boy Genius Report.

Once a person hits the "like" button on Wirefly's Facebook page, the retailer will publish a link to purchase the EVO 4G on the "friends only" tab. People who are not fans won't have access to the link, the website reported. The handset will not be available on Wirefly's website. The retailer did not say how many phones it has available or what the price will be.

The Wirefly page on Facebook says people who become friends can gain access to exclusive coupons and discounts on cell phones. On Tuesday the retailer's Facebook page was offering a coupon for a free Bluetooth or memory card with the purchase of any cell phone.

Launched in June by Sprint, the HTC EVO 4G was in short supply almost immediately after its release due to higher-than-expected demand.

The device runs on the Android 2.1 platform and has a custom web browser designed for the 4.3-inch touchscreen. Other features include simultaneous voice and data capability in 4G or Wi-Fi coverage areas; Google Goggles, which provides the ability to search anything from books and DVDs to barcodes and logos using pictures instead of words; 1-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; two cameras: an 8.0 megapixel auto-focus camera with high-definition video camcorder and a forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera; built-in mobile hotspot functionality allowing up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 3G or 4G speeds on a laptop, camera, music player, game unit, video player, or any other Wi-Fi enabled device; and integrated HD video capture so users can record and share live video via the Qik web site and social media sites.

The EVO 4G also comes with the ability to watch video with the device on an HDTV via a separate HDMI cable; a built-in kickstand in the back to watch videos; Adobe Flash technology; and pinch-to-zoom and automatic text reflowing for web page views.
