Security may be the biggest issue for enterprise wireless networks, but vendors continue to scramble to fill the gaps. Newbury Networks has announced the upcoming release of WiFi Watchdog, a server-based application that helps IT managers keep a finger on the pulse of their wireless networks.

WiFi Watchdog is designed to detect the location of all wireless 802.11b traffic, identify unknown devices and rogue access points, and alert administrators to unauthorized intrusions.

It provides real-time monitoring, pinpoints intruder locations to within five feet--crucial for dealing with freeloaders--and analyzes the network to show IT managers points of weakness.

Deployed with Newbury's LocaleServer 3.0, WiFi Watchdog's pricing starts at $20,000. It will be available in January.
