I'm a big fan of RSS and truly believe it has a lot of potential within the enterprise. Last year I moderated a panel discussion at Interop New York that included the topic of RSS in business. One of the panelists described the use of RSS well beyond subscribing to your favorite blog feed. He talked about RSS as a common link between disparate applications that would otherwise require custom development and integration expertise. He described RSS as a common, simple language that would allow us to tap into, integrate and share application data - whether that's between a person and an application or between two applications. So when I saw that Facebook friend Doug Cornelius had joined a new group called "Enterprise RSS Day of Action" I thought - now this is a Facebook cause I can get behind!Granted, one of my other friends didn't give me much to work with by joining the "Budgeting Babes" group for "all the young, working women who want to spend like Carrie in a Jimmy Choo store but have a budget closer to Roseanne." I'll save that Facebook friend the embarrassment of outing her in my blog.So April 24th, 2008 will now be known as the Enterprise RSS Day of Action or "ERDA" as I'm now describing it. From the ERDA web site:

"The purpose of the Enterprise RSS Day of Action on the Thursday 24th April is to help raise awareness for the potential for Enterprise RSS."

The guy behind ERDA even has a logo (above) and has setup a group wiki for the project. So be sure to check out the Facebook group and the wiki and see how you can participate.
