Investors played it close to the vest Wednesday, pulling back from the previous day's big rally and keeping the major indexes close to unchanged.

Our InformationWeek 100 fell 1.1%, or 3.30 points, to 297.12. The Nasdaq composite index fared better, losing only 0.2%, or 2.96 points, to 1,921.33. The Nasdaq-100 tracking stock rose 0.2%, or 6 cents, to $34.91, on volume of 68 million shares.

Less tech-heavy indexes finished in the black. The Dow rose 0.2%, or 15.70 points, to 10,145.26, and the S&P 500 rose 0.1%, or 1.35 points, to 1,076.48.
