Softrax Corp., Canton, Mass., today unveiled its new Softrax Business Intelligence suite to extend the functionality of its core revenue management applications with revenue analysis and forecasting capabilities.

Softrax BI allows executives and financial professionals to perform predictive forecasting and build "what-if" scenarios and simulate business assumptions. Users can add criteria, time periods, regions, and product lines to the analysis and then drill down all the way to individual customers.

"Analyzing revenue is particularly challenging because there are complex accounting and scheduling issues involved," said Kathleen Wilhide, Research Director, Compliance and Business Performance Management Solutions at IDC. "To compensate, many companies develop custom reports and spreadsheets that are hard to maintain and may not be consistent and reliable enough to support analysis and decision making. This introduces operational risks that can develop into accounting misstatements which in turn, could impact results and lead to a Sarbanes-Oxley compliance issue."

Softrax BI is a browser-based application comprising two new products, Softrax Revenue Analytics and Softrax Revenue Forecasting. Softrax Revenue Analytics provides predefined and customized views of revenue to quickly answer strategic questions about current and future revenue performance. Softrax Revenue Forecasting models and forecasts future revenue, allowing users to create 'what-if' scenarios for key revenue assumptions such as contract, subscription, and maintenance renewal rates.
