The National Geographic Society is taking its venerable photo collection online, making available later this month about 10,000 images to the same number of clients in the advertising, marketing, and publishing worlds. The technology behind the effort: an IBM digital asset-management system. The society plans to add 3,000 images a year to the ngsimages.com site.
