HP released strong financial results last week and in a Q&A session afterward with financial analysts, CEO Mark Hurd offered a range of insights into the company's emerging grand strategy. You'll notice Hurd had nothing to say about printer cartridges and ink-but only a handful of years ago, those two vital but profoundly unstrategic products were believed to generate the bulk of HP's profits. But HP today is a wholly different company and Hurd's done a terrific job of moving HP along in stages, from "the infrastructure company" to a strong services orientation to . . . ? We shall see.
