Ah, finally some phone announcements. This evening, Sony Ericsson unveiled a new Cyber-Shot phone and a new Walkman phone. Both phones have middle-of-the-road feature sets. Both have quad-band GSM/EDGE for worldwide roaming, and each has a variant that also includes tri-band HSDPA in the 850/1900/2100 bands, meaning it will work on AT&T's 3G network in the U.S. Stereo Bluetooth is also on board, as are 3.2 megapixel cameras with flash and video capture, and FM radios.

The C510 Cyber-shot has a neat new feature called Shutter Smile. This clever technology detects a person's smile and immediately takes the photo. It also have the other photo-centric features we've come to expect from Sony Ericsson's Cyber-shot line, such as Face Detection, Photo Fix, and autofocus.

The C508 Walkman phone includes many of Sony Ericsson's music-based features, such as SensMe, TrackID, Shake/Gesture control and PlayNow.

Both phones can access the Web via the ACCESS NetFront browser and have the normal bevy of messaging, entertainment and Internet services.

The C510 will show up sometime later in the first quarter, while the C508 won't appear until the second quarter.
