President Bush's proposed 2003 budget provides $722 million out of $52 billion in IT spending for data-sharing initiatives to counter terrorism. Projects include unification of networks for emergency workers and creation of disaster-information portals. The proposal calls for $392 million to counter bioterrorism, including $202 million for a national public-health network.
