BindView Corp., Houston, yesterday unveiled Compliance Center 2.0, said to help organizations establish internal IT controls and standards for demonstrating regulatory due care, then measure results against established benchmarks.

Version 2.0 supports Windows, Unix, Linux and NetWare and has been certified against the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Level-2 Benchmarks, according to BindView.

Separately, the company announced plans for providing organizations with new integration capabilities to make BindView software interoperable with an increasing number of enterprise applications. As part of that strategy, Compliance Center now integrates with HP Service Desk and Remedy Help Desk, helping IT operations automate a closed-loop lifecycle process for remediation of security and compliance vulnerabilities.

Compliance Center 2.0 creates compliance standards using a reference server or builds custom templates based on established third-party standards or internally defined policies. Standards Packs include: CIS Level-1 Benchmarks for Windows 2000, Red Hat Linux; CIS Level-2 Benchmarks for Windows 2000 Server, Windows 200 Professional; BindView Security Essentials for Solaris and NetWare; and Sun Blueprints for Solaris

Compliance evaluations can identify which systems have failed compliance checks and drill down to specific details. Compliance Center also provides built-in exemption management capabilities, according to BindView. E-mail notifications can be sent administrators when evaluation results are ready for viewing

BindView Compliance Center 2.0 is available immediately, the company said.

The new integration strategy is geared for creating plug-and-play interoperability with leading third-party products, enabling customers to incorporate BindView's IT security and compliance monitoring capabilities into their traditional network and systems management frameworks.

In addition to the Compliance Center integration with HP Service Desk and Remedy Help Desk, BindView applications also integrate with HP OpenView and Microsoft MOM 2005.

Throughout 2005, BindView intends to expand interoperability with its Vulnerability Management, Directory Administration and Policy Compliance applications through a Web-services software developer's kit.
