Belkin Cools Hot Laptops

Belkin on Tuesday unveiled a laptop stand designed to keep portable computers cooler and raise the keyboard to a more comfortable typing position.

Called the Cooling Stand, the $30 accessory sports a fan, powered by a connection to the notebook's USB port, and features a wave-like shape to enhance airflow. The fan, which is located directly under the laptop when the computer is placed on the stand, blows air across the bottom of the portable; the hot air exits through large openings on either side of the stand.

Its sloped design also raises the keyboard to relieve stress on the wrists and lifts the screen for a better viewing angle.

The stand will go on sale in late February in North America, with retail releases in Asia, Europe, and Australia after that.
