Announcing My Retirement
The BrainYard - Where collaborative minds congregate.
Well, not really... But I did contemplate retirement after attending my first unstructured, attendee driven conference program known as an "Un-conference". The "Web2Open" is the un-conference here at Web2Expo and a great example of self-organizing conference content. Picture a bunch of people who write proposed topics on pieces of paper, announce them to the group and then tape the topics onto open time slots on a giant whiteboard scheduling grid. As sessions are scheduled, they find a quiet corner to hold their session and attendees join the discussions that interest them most. Very low tech to say the least, but this is a fantastic format that lets the attendees decide what's most important to discuss. We're doing our own un-conference at the upcoming Enterprise 2.0 Conference in Boston and I'm looking forward to the new format. We're adding it as a program that will run concurrently with a more traditional format (so that I can keep my day job). So if you're coming to Boston, start thinking about what you'd like to discuss.
