Cloud Connect: Smart Cloud Strategies, Real-World Insights

Cloud Connect will host in-depth workshops and a two-day summit at Interop New York to help IT leverage cloud to drive the business forward.

Cloud Connect is partnering with Interop New York to bring its cloud-as-as-business-enabler programming to Interop attendees at the Javits Center this fall.

Clark Buckner of TechnologyAdvice spoke with Cloud Connect conference chair Steve Wylie about how cloud is transforming enterprise IT, and about Cloud Connect’s role at Interop.

“The nature of enterprise IT is changing because of cloud computing,” said Wylie in a podcast interview. “The risk for people in IT is becoming less relevant in the business technology strategy if they don’t embrace cloud and understand how to fully leverage it to drive the business forward.”

“Cloud has become a key enabler, and IT organizations that understand it fully will excel,” he said.

As for the Interop partnership, Wylie said “We see a tremendous amount of value in bringing Cloud Connect to the enterprise IT audience that Interop is known for. There’s a lot of work that needs to still happen with adoption of cloud in the enterprise, so in our view it’s a perfect pairing.”

Cloud Connect will offer in-depth workshops on September 29 and 30 on a range of subjects, including private cloud infrastructure, cloud storage, and how organizations can prepare for the next generation of cloud applications.

In addition to the workshops, the Cloud Connect Summit, which runs October 1 and 2, will focus on current trends and the decisions enterprises need to make in setting their cloud strategy.

The Summit’s opening keynote is Jonathan Murray, EVP and CTO of the Warner Music Group. Murray will discuss how IT organizations can close the gap between business demands and IT’s ability to deliver using cloud computing. He’ll share his experiences addressing the technical, operational and organizational challenges of this approach.

“The most common misconception I see about cloud is that there’s one single path forward or architecture that’s the way forward,” said Wylie.

“There’s many options in terms of both architectural approaches and in terms of vendors. Companies have many options and many decisions to make. That’s what we’re all about at Cloud Connect.”
