IBM And Sun Aim At Midrange
IBM last week unveiled its midrange TotalStorage FAStT600 storage device, which the company says provides three times faster throughput than its predecessor. Automated software expected in June is designed to help customers plan for demand spikes. Sun Microsystems debuted its StorEdge 6000 midrange storage devices, including the 6120 modular Fibre Channel RAID array and 6320 storage system. Sun also debuted its N1 Data Platform, which lets IT managers allocate storage to different devices as needed.
