HP Expands Executive Team
Hewlett-Packard has named former Telcordia Technologies Inc. exec Richard A. DeMillo to the position of VP and chief technology officer.
In the newly created position, DeMillo will be responsible for the formation of a software division for Web-based software and E-services. Additionally, DeMillo will chair HP's Technology Council, which will evaluate the company's technology initiatives and cross-company architecture strategies. The council consists of the CTOs of HP's printing, imaging, and computing systems divisions.
Previously, DeMillo worked as general manager of the Internet Systems Group at Telcordia, overseeing the development of Web-based software and services for the telecommunications industry. He will report directly to CEO Carly Fiorina.
Stephen L. Squires joins DeMillo at HP in the newly created position of VP and chief science officer. Squires arrives from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, where he most recently served as special assistant for information technology in the office of the director, advising on Internet security and global IT issues, among others. He will focus on long-term IT strategies and will report to DeMillo.
