I'm glad you bring this up, because it frames a beef I have with the concept of BMI, or Body Mass Index. This is a way of gauging whether somebody's weight is in proportion to their height. It depends on NOTHING other than the individual's height and weight. It does not take into account the fact that some people have wide shoulders and wrists, for example. If someone has wrists that are say, 1.25 times as wide as mine, it is reasonable to expect that his arm weighs 1.25 x 1.25 times what mine does, given that we have the same proportion of body fat. This who area needs redefinition.
