re: Physician EHR Adoption Varies With Age, Specialty, Affiliation
I have seen multiple physicians retire over the desire not to enter the electronic age.
As far as the small practices or solo physicians, much of the low adoption rate is related to cost. I have seen a number of smaller practices join a IPA or some group that will allow them to keep their clinical autonomy while getting IT and/or billing support from a larger entity.
I'm also seeing more and more small practice adoption of free web-based EHR like Practice Fusion where the cost basis doesn't hurt their bottom line.
