re: NRC Seeks To Marry Biomedical Research, Patient EHR Data
Precision medicine. I like that term. In the clinical trials/drug development and oncology, the term is called personalized medicine...using biomarkers and diagnostics to determine the best candidate for a drug agent or marketed drug later after it's approved. But targeting the other outcomes factors--socioenvironmental and patient characteristics outside the genomic--is interesting. Once the EHR dust settles, and if it ever gets truly standardized and integrated, it will be amazine what we can mine. Until then though, each organizations attempts like the MSKCC one, as well as one I know of at Moffitt, will continue to move the ball forward.
