re: EHR Roulette: Gambling On Medicine's Future
I completely agree, many organizations pushed for quick EHR implementations in order to attest for MU and therefore get the financial incentives promised, while ignoring other factors such as the usability of the EHR systems. Implementing an EHR system successfully requires a lot of back end work such as coming up with workflows and providing sufficient training to the physicians and front end users. I notice that the lack of training is a huge factor in whether an EHR fails or succeeds, no matter how user friendly the system is.
