Re: On the high price of deceit
It's got me wondering too, especially in parts of the world where emissions and fuel economy are considered more important. While in the U.S. I know that high 30s are considered very strong milage per gallon, elsewhere in the world that's actually quite poor. In the UK many vehicles are marketed at 70 MPG+ and now I'm wondering how good those really are, especially since many come from VW.
That said, I wonder how difficult paying this fine will actually be for VW. $14 billion is an enormous amount of money, but it's 'only' equivalent to the company's profit from 2014. It will easily survive this, which seems pretty crazy.
Should any company be able to absorb such losses?
