There have been many technology-oriented gatherings (conferences, expositions, etc), but none that rival Web 2.0 Summit for attention, hype and, ultimately, delivering the goods, and this week marks the sixth annual conference. The theme: Web Squared. Techweb and O'Reilly Media will be broadcasting select sessions live for those who couldn't make the sold out show.Starting at around 4:30 pm Pacific time on Tuesday, October 20, you can watch some of the sessions, in addition to several other programming elements focusing on innovative new technology, here.

It's quite a program, kicking off with Twitter CEO Evan Williams, the new CEO of Yahoo (Carol Bartz) and the federal CTO Aneesh Chopra. We'll also bring you a session on the state of journalism, with Arthur Sulzberger, Jr, the CEO of the New York Times, Robert Thomson, the Wall Street Journal's Managing Editor, Marissa Mayer, who heads up Google's search, and Eric Hippeau, CEO of Huffington Post.

The theme of the conference is Web Squared. There is a lot to that, and you can read the white paper produced by Tim O'Reilly and John Battelle here. We plan to kick off our preliminary coverage with a preview interview with Federated Media CEO, and co-chair of Web 2.0, John Battelle, later tonight.
