Maybe you don't really need Word. For free document viewing, editing and saving, there's always WordPad.

WordPad is a free little word-processor--it comes with Windows.

In XP navigate to Start >> Programs >> Accessories >> WordPad . Select and click WordPad.

In Vista or Windows 7, click Start and in the search box type: wordpad

Hit Enter.

WordPad will save and open files in .txt, .doc and .rtf formats. It's a bare-bones text editor--no spellchecker here--but it's free!
