Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) today expanded its Oracle services expertise with the acquisition of ECS Integrated Technology Solutions LLC, a Portland, Ore., IT consulting services company specializing in Oracle applications.
Although the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed, ECS expands CSC's national Oracle and enterprise resource planning practices by approximately 85 employees, 100 clients, three locations throughout the Pacific Northwest, and one location in Irvine, Calif.
ECS, which generated $18.5 million in revenue last fiscal year, cut its teeth in the Oracle services business as part of the Oracle Application Dealership Network, implementing accounting, distribution, customer-relationship management, and data warehousing applications for Oracle customers, says Richard Ducharme, president and CEO of ECS. With CSC's help, Ducharme expects ECS will move more firmly into the realm of E-commerce application development, to the point that such development will account for more than 50% of the company's business by the end of 2000.
CSC's acquisition of ECS goes hand in hand with the company's decision to invest in the Oracle solution set as a means of bringing CSC customers into the "E-business economy," says Bill Read, VP of enterprise solutions for CSC's consulting group. "We're trying to identify all the technologies needed to offer E-business solutions, and Oracle plays heavily into this," he says, adding that ECS's successful history with Oracle applications, its "top-notch" management team, and its strong relationships with a number of Internet startups in the Seattle area made ECS particularly attractive to CSC.
