Crystal Decisions Offers Three In One

Crystal Enterprise 9 Premium combines the vendor's reporting, analysis, and information-delivery technologies in one package.

Crystal Decisions Inc. on Wednesday debuted Crystal Enterprise 9 Premium, which combines the vendor's reporting, analysis, and information-delivery technologies into a single package. The software is further proof that the line between reporting and more advanced data analysis is quickly blurring.

The package, which bundles together Crystal Reports and Crystal Analysis, offers new ad hoc query capabilities that let users make relatively simple modifications to reports on their own and save those changes. Linking the two tools lets report designers build linkages between formatted reports and interactive, analytic views of information, the company says.

Crystal Decisions also unveiled a release of its Web-based Crystal Analysis Professional software with guided analysis--the ability to record analytical processes for future use--and tighter integration with Microsoft's Excel.

The products are available immediately; licensing alternatives include named user, concurrent user, and processor-based options. Pricing for the Crystal Enterprise Premium package generally starts at $75,000.
