Client Tools And Gadgets

Windows Vista marches toward its planned release later this year, with last week's "feature complete" preview version released to testers. The latest batch of features aims to please IT managers: enterprise deployment tools to roll out the Vista client, a System Image Manager for adding components to a disk image, and an updated migration tool for moving settings from old Windows editions. Also, improved tools on group policies let managers block the use of removable storage devices on some machines. But it's not all for IT: It also activates Sidebar and Gadgets, meant to compete with Mac OS X Widgets and similar applets by Yahoo Widget Engine.
