The state of Washington has a new CIO, sort of.
Gov. Christine Gregoire tapped Gary Robinson as director of the Department of Information Services. Robinson served as the department's acting director in 2001 and 2002. Robinson moves back to Information Services from the Office of Financial Management, where he serves as senior assistant director.
Washington's new governor said she told Robinson to aggressively furnish IT systems that will improve state agency accountability and performance. Gregoire challenged Robinson to provide innovative leadership that will move Washington to the next level in IT.
