Microsoft to Bring Live Search to Facebook

InformationWeek, The Money Times

Microsoft, which says it's no longer interested in buying Yahoo, has strengthened its partnership with Facebook to help expand its search business. The deal -- similar to one between Google and MySpace valued at $900,000 million -- calls for Facebook to incorporate Microsoft's Live Search via an API so that users' queries will produce search results and paid search ads generated by Microsoft's search engine. Financial details weren't disclosed, though Microsoft already owns a $240 million stake in the social networking site, which says it has 900 million users.

The service is expected to launch this fall.InformationWeek, The Money Times
