HP is expanding its presence in the wireless space with a definitive agreement to acquire Colubris Networks, a Waltham, Mass.-based provider of wireless networks.Colubris' product line, which includes tools for wireless integrated access, management and security products, as well as 802.11n capabilities, will be integrated into HP's ProCurve Networking division. HP ProCurve, the world's second-largest enterprise LAN networking vendor behind Cisco Systems, already offers network switching and routing products to such verticals as hospitality, transportation, health care, manufacturing, service provider and education. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close by the end of October, were not disclosed.

"The acquisition of Colubris Networks will strengthen ProCurve?s hardware, management platform and services, significantly improving the overall performance capabilities of both wired and wireless networks," said HP ProCurve SVP and GM Marius Haas, in a statement.
